Reach  $13,000 to build a school in rural Cambodia through American Assistance for Cambodia.

This project was inspired by a service trip to Pailin, Cambodia where I saw education in action for alleviating poverty. More significantly it was inspired by the friend I made on this trip. A particular hardworking student with big dreams named Lyhou (lee.how). He wants to go to a University and eventually the United States. With an education that could be possible. I want to complete this project to give another child in cambodia like him the opportunity to reach their dreams.

OL is currently working to expand across multiple universities for a college campaign for education. I will keep the site updated on that progress.

StudyBlue Fundraiser

Operation Lyhou is teaming up with Study Blue until november 24th for this fundraiser which could potentially be a huge deal for my project.

For every person who clicks this link / signs up http://go.studyblue.com/cambodia Operation Lyhou will be given $1 towards the efforts. Not only that, if OL is in the top 4 student groups Study Blue has selected for this campaign, OL gets an additional $500! That is a lot of money for some clicks. So please take a minute and do so.

StudyBlue is not going to spam you it is basically a new social networking tool (kinda like facebook) for studying during highschool and college seeking to grow and get the word out so it decided to do this student group campaign. It is actually a pretty cool program.

1) click link http://go.studyblue.com/cambodia
2) enter your college email (or any email if you are in highschool)
3) Select your college (or your highschool)
4) CLICK VERIFICATION EMAIL... otherwise it wont give OL credit

Please forward this or invite people to the facebook event, it just takes a minute and could make a huge impact!

Video on Human Trafficking

MTV Exit campaign seeks to raise awareness about the increasing problem of human trafficking and the sex trade industry.

Cambodia has one of the largest sex trade industries in the world. There are around 30,000 children sexually exploited* in Cambodia today. The recruiters target families and young girls from rural, poor areas. Often, they are deceived into thinking they are going to go work in the city to make a better life for themselves. In actuality, many enter a world of slavery, pain and no exit. Because illiterate girls are most likely to become victims of human-trafficking, education is key to end this cycle.

For more information check out Dateline's special on the sex industry in Cambodia as well as MTV Exit.

In the news... again

Operation Lyhou on NBC 9News at 9

Progress thus far

After starting this project less than 4 weeks ago, OL has made huge progress. OL has raised nearly $2000 dollars.

That is nearly 2/13 of the overall goal. Which at first seems like a huge task, however when broken up, as we can see, is manageable. Thanks for all the support so far and please keep spreading the word!
